Pat-on-the-head morning meds

NoMoSadz has taken up residency next to my husband’s morning meds and often receives a pat on the head from him when swallowing his pills.  It’s funny because I tell him NoMoSadz is for ME!!!!  So maybe it’s a 2 for 1? Who knows!!! The point is that this little buddy is comforting and that’s the win for all of us.

Humanizing (or in this case anthropomorphizing) care resources may have started as a subtle coping mechanism for you, but it is reverberating to many in need across all age groups.

laugh out loud

I purchased the plush placebo pills for a family member who has struggled over the years with anxiety and depression.  She has frequently turned to prescription medications to seek improvement in her mental/emotional health, with varying levels of relief.  I just love the plush pills for bringing some levity and humor to an issue that is a serious struggle for many.  The recipient laughed out loud when she received them and you know what they say—laughter is the best medicine.  So that’s treatment success in my book!

first reaction…

My first reaction to being introduced to the Placebo Plushies was, “I GOTTA HAVE THEM”.  I respond to the fact that they up-end society’s “taboo topics” in a way that, for me, is both direct and supportive.  I don’t often find conventional medicine to be supportive of me as a patient. The plushies make the point that others may share this patient experience, and there are alternative ways to address our needs.

My Plushies are placed in a visible and readily-accessible place in my home, so that others can interact with them. Most people are not surprised that I have them and usually nod in agreement upon reading the tags.
